GBG is a global specialist in identity data intelligence, helping organisations make decisions about the customers they serve and the people they employ. Through their fundamental belief that the digital economy relies on everyone having access to data they can trust, GBG enables companies and governments to fight fraud and cybercrime, to improve customer experience and help to protect the more vulnerable people in our society.

The Challenge

GBG had recently completed the acquisition of IDscan, a leading data intelligence business that read, extract and authenticate data from a multitude of complex documents including passports, visas and ID cards. As with many acquisitions, the need to collaborate and share IT systems become a complex challenge.

IDscan’s key collaboration platform was powered by Office365, with their users accessing SharePoint, Exchange and Skype for Business. Since the acquisition, sharing calendars, email systems and files between the two businesses was becoming a challenge.

Some challenges included:

  • Duplication of data
  • Different security policies
  • No shared address book

The decision was made to migrate IDscan into GBG’s Office365 tenant to resolve the key challenges, while ensuring key compliance and security controls were managed within one location.

How we helped

Yobah worked alongside the GBG IT team to discover and review both Office365 tenancies to map out a clear and concise migration path. Due to the complexities of migration between tenants, they implemented third party applications to ensure all users’ data was migrated and client machines configured to ensure minimal impact to their working day.

Key highlights included:

  • Migrated over SharePoint sites to GBG tenant, ensuring permissions remained intact
  • All OneDrive data migrated
  • User emails migrated
  • Client machines reconfigured
  • Security policies applied
