WiWith over 70,000 employees, the Co-op is one of the largest co-operative in the world. It’s businesses include Food, Funeralcare, Electricals, Insurance and Legal Services. Their head office is based in Manchester City Centre, and supports over 20,000 IT enabled users.
The Challenge
Over the past few years, Co-op have undertaken an extensive transformation programme, that looks at every aspect of their business. A key enabler to this transformation is how IT services are consumed and utilised. As with many businesses, Co-op were defining key strategies to solve some of their challenges. Some of these challenges included:
- Data centre utilisation
- Shadow IT
- Manual and inefficient deployment process
- Cloud Readiness Assessment – Including gap analysis, people, process and technical gap analysis completed
- Design and governance over a management platform that provides capability across multiple public clouds
- Governance and Design of Foundation Infrastructure, People, Process and governance workshops to aid with flexible cloud model

Yobah partnered with the Co-op IT over a 12 month engagement to help define and drive a hybrid cloud strategy that helped them achieve their dream of becoming a cloud broker.
